Our lovely Christmas from this year. Josiah was very kind to me and let me pick out a fir tree, instead of getting a pine tree from the mountains. This is a Fraser fir, it looks likes a cross between a Noble fir and a Grand or Douglas fir.
It is hard to believe that the Christmas season has already come and gone. All the decorations are down and put away, all the company has left and we are now back into our normal routine.
We had a lovely Christmas this year; all of Josiah’s siblings were able to come and we had a great time together. Our nephew is 2 ½ was so much fun to watch, how much more aware he was compared with last year and how much more he is talking and interacting with people. We also had the privilege of seeing our niece for the first time; she was born on Oct 27th. She is ADORABLE, new life is always so precious!
It seems like this year it took extra-long to get back to our normal routine, for a couple of reasons. First of all I got quite sick right after Christmas, and it took me almost two weeks to fully recover. The second is due to a little surprise we discovered after I had started doing laundry.
Honestly Josiah was the first one to notice it after I had already done a load of laundry. He discovered that a pipe coming from the washer had a crack in it and was spraying water all over the floor. The pipe is located under the sink in a cupboard (right next to the washer), which is why I didn’t notice it right away.
The elbow joint of the pipe on the left is where the crack was. The grayish square at the top is the bottom of the sink. If you continue to follow the pipes to the right outside of the cupboard they eventually connect to the washer somehow.
The best part is that when Josiah went to fix it the pipe that he used had a fairly significant split in it, so it also sprayed water all over the floor. Luckily he was just turned the water on enough to test it, so it didn’t leak that much. Josiah decided from the incident that he should just get new pipe instead of using something that is lying around, or make sure to run water through the pipe just in the sink or something to test it.
That was quite the experience, especially considering that it had been probably two weeks since I had done laundry because of Christmas and everything. I was going down to Dan and Cindy’s multiple times a day to switch out laundry, so that it could actually get done until Josiah got the pipe fixed. I think the best part was that our washer itself was perfectly functional and had no issues, but I couldn’t use because a pipe going to it was not working correctly. ANNOYING!
